On May 9th, Anna will be attending the annual White House Correspondant’s Dinner as a guest of NBC/MSNBC. What an honor!!
The guests of NBC Universal/NBC News/MSNBC for the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner are: Alec Baldwin, Angela Kinsey – NBC’s “The Office”, Anna Kendrick – Academy Award Nominee for “Up in the Air”, Bradley Cooper, Elizabeth Moss – “Mad Men”, Ewan McGregor, Fred Armisen, Jimmy Fallon, Jon Bon Jovi, Lindsey Vonn, Mariska Hargitay.
Anna is featured in the March issue of Paper, as one of their Beautiful People of 2010. Included is a brand new HQ photoshoot picture, which you can see in the gallery now!
Anna Kendrick is having something of a moment, to put it mildly. The 24-year-old actress has received so much international acclaim for her turn as the PowerPoint-wielding efficiency expert in director Jason Reitman’s feel-bad film Up in the Air that it’s easy to forget she also appeared in two little movies with “Twilight” in the title. Being nominated for an Oscar will do that for a girl. “You find out with the rest of the world,” Kendrick says. “I was too nervous to watch the nominations on TV, so I went for a jog, but my phone started going off. I sprinted back home, cracked a bottle of champagne and started drinking it before I realized it was 5 a.m.”
It’s a deserved nod to an actress who possesses the kind of onscreen depth more common to older actors. Not that it’s all that surprising, since it turns out Reitman wrote the role with her in mind. “When he told me, I just tried to act really cool,” she says. “I wasn’t all that successful at it.” Self-effacing tendencies aside, Kendrick’s a pro at keeping her nerves in check; she’s already got a decade-plus of acting experience under her belt, including several turns on Broadway in productions of A Little Night Music and High Society, having garnered a Tony nomination for the latter at the age of 12.
Next, she’ll appear with Michael Cera in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and opposite Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen in a black comedy called I’m With Cancer. She says she likes difficult roles — she’s going through a phase where she’s excited about exploring vulnerable characters — and she hopes to continue in challenging parts. “But Meryl Streep was in Stuck on You, so no one’s career is perfect.”
Anna is on the “longlist” for Best Breakout Performance at the 2010 MTV Movie Awards, and your vote can help her become an official nominee and move on to the second stage of voting.
In addition to attending the Oscars as a Best Supporting Actress nominee this Sunday, Anna will also be presenting the awards for Best Sound Editing and Mixing, according to her mom, Jan Kendrick. She talked to her local ABC station about this, the lame Adam Lambert rumors and much more.
Big Night Approaches For Anna Kendrick
Deering High Grad Prepares For Oscar Night
PORTLAND, Maine — When the curtain goes up on the 82nd Academy Awards in Hollywood on Sunday, Best Supporting Actress nominee and Deering High grad Anna Kendrick will have her own rooting section inside the Kodak Theatre.
Jan Kendrick, the actress’ mother, tells News 8 that she and Anna’s older brother, Michael, will attend the ceremony. The 24-year-old actress, who is nominated for her role opposite George Clooney in “Up in the Air,” is also scheduled to present the Oscar for sound editing and mixing, according to Jan Kendrick.
And, Jan Kendrick says, her daughter’s date is not last year’s American Idol runner-up Adam Lambert. Jan Kendrick says rumors circulated after her daughter told Ryan Seacrest that she and Lambert were friends and that Lambert was “a fun guy.”

Anna is one of 10 Great Performances featured by Time magazine! What a great and well-deserved honor. They included a new photoshoot picture and write-up about her role in “Up in the Air”.
Anna Kendrick
“Up in the Air”
She shares a sharp intensity with the young Holly Hunter, but Kendrick, 24, took her inspiration for her role as George Clooney’s upstart downsizing colleague in Up in the Air from Faye Dunaway in Network. Kendrick decided her character, Natalie, would think she could be just like Dunaway’s ruthless Diana Christensen, with one twist: “Throughout the movie, she is finding out she can’t be.” It takes a while for the audience to fall for the driven, aggressive Natalie — thanks to lines like “Please, for the love of God, can I fire the next one?” — but Kendrick was always on her side. “Even if she’s going to fail, she wants to dive in and do it.” Kendrick took an ambitious dive from way up in the air and nailed it.
